The CLACK cabinet water softener

A compact cabinet softener built around the CLACK control valve, a premium valve that has been in the industry for 20 years and has a reputation for reliability. It meters your water use and only regenerates when it needs to, which keeps salt use down. It removes 100% of the limescale from the water coming into the house, so every tap, shower, appliance and the heating system downstream is protected.

The Ecosoft CROSS 90 Balance

• Five stages in three cartridges: a complex prefilter, a 600 GPD membrane, and a combined carbon block and mineralising postfilter
• Calcium put back after purification, so the finished water sits at 40 to 70 mg/L TDS. Pure, but with something in it
• No storage tank. 90 litres an hour, 1.5 litres a minute, made as you draw it
• 60% recovery rate, so about six litres in every ten reach your glass
• Booster pump fitted as standard, for inlet pressure of 2 to 5 bar
• Smart tap with colour coded cartridge warnings and an audible alert
• Leak sensor and automatic membrane flushing
• Cartridge changes in under 7 minutes, no tools, no spills. Twisting a cartridge out shuts the inlet automatically
• Prefilter and postfilter every 12 months, membrane every 24 months
• 435 mm high, 140 mm wide, 458 mm deep, 11 kg. 230 V, 50 Hz

Before we install

• A fixed, compliant electrical socket near where the softener will go, and a 230 V socket within about a metre of the CROSS 90 under the sink. We do not carry out electrical work
• A wastewater outlet within about 60 cm of the softener
• We may drill a small hole through the back wall for a safety overflow
• Mains pressure between 2 and 5 bar
• Granite, quartz or composite worktops without a spare tap hole need core drilling, which we quote separately

Installation is included for addresses in Ireland. Once you order we text you a date and time, and if it does not suit, text back and we will move it.

Questions

What does the mineralisation do?

Reverse osmosis takes out almost everything dissolved in water, including the minerals that give it body, and some people find the result tastes thin. The last cartridge adds calcium back, and the water tastes fuller and rounder for it.

Will the added calcium cause limescale?

No. At 40 to 70 mg/L it is a fraction of what is in untreated hard water, and nowhere near enough to scale a kettle.

Why is this the dearest bundle?

The CROSS 90 Balance has the highest output of the drinking water systems we sell, a pump as standard, mineralisation built in and the smart tap. It is the one to choose if you want the best of everything in one visit.
